EcoEireann held a ‘Wear It Green Day’ during Mental Health Awareness Week (15 to 21 May 2023), to raise awareness of mental health within our team. The event was initiated by the Mental Health Foundation and this year’s theme was anxiety.
Anxiety is a normal emotion in us all, but sometimes it can get out of control and become a mental health problem. It is one of the most common mental health problems we can face. Lots of things can lead to feelings of anxiety, including starting or losing a new job, changing relationships, financial worries especially in a cost of living crisis, or other big life events. With up to 70% of Irish employees experiencing symptoms of anxiety, mental health in the workplace is an important issue. On a positive note, anxiety can be made easier to manage – for useful management techniques, click here.
For our Wear It Green Day, EcoEireann’s staff were encouraged to wear green clothing for one day and to compete for the highly coveted award for greenest outfit! This was challenging for most of the team during working hours, due to the requirement for orange hi vis clothing to be worn onsite for health and safety purposes, so creativity was the name of the game! Thomas Ripley Wilson, Senior Ecologist, was awarded the winning prize of a jar of green goodies for his contribution to the event – well done Tom!
